On Saturday, Nov. 22, the Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club traveled to White Oak Park, Pennsylvania, to compete at the USATF Region 2 Cross Country Championships — and delivered one of their best performances yet.

Despite a tough and muddy course, the Flyers showed grit and teamwork across all age groups. The day included five Top 10 finishes, with athletes pushing through slick footing and difficult terrain to produce fast, competitive races. Two Flyers even set personal bests, an impressive feat given the conditions.

Next up is the Junior Olympic Nationals on Dec. 13 in Shelbyville, Indiana, where the Flyers will look to keep the momentum going.

Congratulations to all athletes, families, and coaches for an outstanding regional and for representing the Flyers with strength and pride. Here are the athletes advancing to Nationals:

  • 7-10 boys: James Bedara and Jackson Sarvey

  • 9-10 boys: Greyson Dunleavy, Hudson Dunleavy and Grayson Van Dyk

  • 11-12 girls: Katalyna Aguilar, Sandra Jakubiuk, and Sarah Licata

  • 11-12 boys: Leo Anspach and Slater Centeno

  • 13-14 boys: Adrian Wood

The Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club is led by USATF-certified coaches and serves hundreds of athletes ages 7-15 year-round. Athletes learn the fundamentals of distance running and techniques unique to off-track running, with more experienced runners building on fundamental skills through conditioning and in-depth training.
