Westfield Area Y Flyers Win Two National Championships and Receive 6 All-American Honors

Eleven athletes from the Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Club were among the more than 10,000 athletes who competed at the USATF National Junior Olympics held July 24-30, 2017 at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas. Two athletes won National Championships and 4 athletes earned a total of 6 All-American Honors.
Alexandra Bonn won the National Championship and was named an All-American in 11-12 Girls Pentathlons and earned All-American honors for her 4th place finishes in the 80m Hurdles and Long Jump. Grace Endy won the National Championship for the 13-14 Girls 3000-meter Race Walk. Other All-Americans include: Melissa Endy who won the Bronze medal in the 17-18 Girls 3000-meter Race Walk and Paul Koizumi who finished in 4th place in the 13-14 Boys 3000-meter Race Walk.

Gabriel Jackson – 11-12 Boys – Javelin
Elizabeth Koizumi – 11-12 Girls – 1500m Race Walk
Paul Koizumi – 13-14 Boys 3000m Race Walk
Emma Muir – 9-10 Girls – High Jump, Javelin, Long Jump
Benjamin Spergel – 13-14 Boys – 100m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles
Chris Salkowski – 15-16 Boys – Javelin
Bryan Tucker – 11-12 Boys – 200m Dash, Javelin
The Flyers Track Club fall cross country season starts in September and runs through October.
