Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Compete at Regional and National Junior Olympics

Athletes from the Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club recently competed in the Regional and National Cross Country Junior Olympics. Seven Flyers at the Regional Junior Olympics qualified for the National Junior Olympics and six were among the more than 3,000 athletes that competed at the Cross Country National Junior Olympics December 10, 2016 in Hoover, Alabama.
The seven athletes that qualified for the National Junior Olympics are:
Ages 8 & Under Boys’ Division: Simon Cruz
Age 9-10 Boys’ Division: Orlando Guzman Jr., Eamon Mason, and Andrew Vilarin
Ages 11-12 Girls’ Division: Jordyn Ament
Ages 13-14 Boys’ Division: William McGlynn
Ages 13-14 Girls’ Division: Caroline Collins
Jordyn Ament, Simon Cruz, Caroline Collins, Orlando Guzman Jr., Eamon Mason, and Will McGlynn traveled to compete at the National meet. Eamon Mason was the team’s top finisher. He finished 51 st out of the 341 competitors in his division. The Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club is a USATF certified club that serves over 800 athletes throughout the year.
