WF ‘Y’ Flyer Wins Bronze at Jr. Olympics, 4 All-Americans
Fifteen athletes from the Westfield Area “Y” Flyers Track Club were among the more than 7,500 athletes who competed at the USATF National Junior Olympics held July 25 through 31 at Sacramento State University in Sacramento, Calif. Four athletes were named All-Americans and five athletes set new team records.
Melissa Endy won the Bronze medal in the 3,000-meter Race Walk, Girls 17-18 division and was named an All-American. Other All-Americans include: Grace Endy- 4th place and All-American in the 3,000-meter Race Walk, Girls 13-14 division. Paul Koizumi – 4th place and All-American in the 3000-meter Race Walk, Boys 13-14 division and Elizabeth Koizumi, 7th place and All-American in the 1500m Race Walk, Girls 9-10 division.
Team records were set by: Eamon Mason 1,500-meter run, Boys 9-10 Division, Gabriel Costa Javelin, Boys 9-10 Division, Alexandra Bonn, Abigail Granrath, Madison Kologi and Julia Skultety 4x100m relay, Girls 11-12 Division, and Melissa Endy 300-meter Race Walk Girls 12-18 Division.
The Flyers Track Club fall cross country season starts September 8 and runs through October 28.
