3 Westfield Area Y Flyers Compete at Regional and National Junior Olympics

Athletes from the Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Club recently competed in the USATF Regional and National Cross Country Junior Olympics. Six Flyers at the Regional Junior Olympics qualified for the National Junior Olympics and three were among the nearly 3,000 athletes that competed at the USATF Cross Country National Junior Olympics Dec.12, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The six athletes that qualified at Regionals for the National Junior Olympics are:
Age 9-10 Boys’ Division: Eamon Mason - 8th place; Andrew Villarin - 27th place
Ages 11-12 Boys’ Division: William McGlynn – 3rd place; Griffin Murphy – 26th place
Ages 13-14 Girls’ Division: Caroline Collins – 25th Place
Ages 13-14 Boys’ Division: Zachary Spergel – 27 Place
Will McGlynn, Caroline Collins and Zachary Spergel all traveled to Albuquerque to compete. Will McGlynn was the team’s top finisher at Nationals. He finished 103rd.
